Celebrating National Cat Day

October 15, 2015

Did you know that National Cat Day is coming up? While our feline friends would probably insist that every day should be National Cat Day, the official date is October 29th. In this article, a Tipp City, OH vet lists some ways to make this a ‘purrfect’ day.

Pamper Your Cat

We know, Fluffy deserves to be spoiled every day! That doesn’t mean you can’t show your kitty a bit of extra TLC on National Cat Day. Pick up a new toy or bed for your furball, or indulge her with a special treat of tuna or chicken. Catnip, of course, is another good choice.

Veterinary Care

While coming to see us probably wouldn’t top the list of Fluffy’s favorite activities, it’s for her own good. Make sure your furball is up to date on necessary shots and parasite control. If she’s overdue for an examination, microchipping, or spay/neuter surgery, let this serve as a reminder!

Photo Opp!

This is a great time to take some adorable pics of your feline buddy. If your camera has a macro setting, use that. You may also find you get better shots by getting down on the floor, so you’re at Fluffy’s eye level. Once you’ve taken your pics, post them on social media, and ask your friends or family members to add a cute or silly caption.

Support Animal Charities

There are many wonderful charity and rescue organizations working very hard to help cats in need. Donating money or supplies is a great way to show support and help some of these sweet kitties. If you have the time, think about volunteering or even fostering a kitty.

Share The News

Spread the word! Post information about Fluffy’s special day on social media, or boost the signal about a special kitty that needs a home.

Teach Your Children

National Cat Day is a great day to educate your children about our feline friends. If you have little ones, read them a few cat stories, and talk about some of Fluffy’s adorable traits.

Movie Time

Another fun way to celebrate National Cat Day is to settle in with some great cat-themed movies or TV shows. Big kitties, little kitties, bad kitties, good kitties … they all make for great entertainment!
