Things Your Dog is Thankful For

Thanksgiving is just around the corner. Dogs are definitely something that we are thankful for! Fido truly enriches and brightens up our lives with his love, loyalty, and affection. But what do you think your pup is most appreciative of? We can’t say for sure, but we can make a few ‘petucated’ guesses. Here, a Tipp City, OH vet lists some things that get Fido’s tail wagging. 

No surprises here! A yummy snack definitely ranks pretty high on the list of Fido’s favorite things. Give your pooch a special holiday treat. Plain, cooked turkey, without the skin, bones, or fat, is a great option.

It’s always adorable seeing a pup happily running after a ball, stick, or Frisbee. Keeping Fido’s toybox full isn’t just good for entertainment purposes. It also helps keep your pup fit and provides him with beneficial mental stimulation. Make doggy playtime a regular thing.

For many people, walking their pups is an absolute necessity, for sanitary reasons. However, even if you have a yard for your dog to run around in, your canine pal will still appreciate—and benefit from—daily walks. Those strolls not only help keep your pooch in shape, they also provide him with mental stimulation. The activity, change of scenery, chance to sniff new grass, and just the excitement of being out and about are all great for Fido!

Walks are great, but if you really want to go above and beyond, take Fido to a park or trail regularly. This is a great way for you and your furry best friend to get some fresh air and exercise. Take advantage of those last warm days before winter sets in. 

Fido is always cute. However, he is extra charming when he’s smiling or closing his eyes with happiness when you scratch his ears or rub his belly. Pay your lovable pet some extra attention! 

As far as Fido is concerned, good beds are one of the best things in life. (We’re inclined to agree.) Make sure your four-legged buddy has a comfy bed!

Fido hasn’t earned the honorary title of Man’s Best Friend for nothing. Dogs are extremely loyal, and really just want to spend time with their humans!
