You may have noticed that we sometimes joke around about how spoiled cats are, and how our feline overlords demand that we wait on them hand and paw. This may not be entirely fair. Fluffy can certainly be a furry little diva. However, at the end of the day, it doesn’t take much to keep her motor going. A local Tipp City, OH vet lists some ways to keep your kitty content in this article.
Cats are predators by nature, and they are more or less hardwired to want to pounce, jump, bite, and scratch things. (Fluffy sometimes likes to practice these skills on her humans, but that’s another topic.) Make sure your pet has lots of toys to smack around! Of course, interactive play is both more fun and more challenging for kitties than batting a catnip mouse under the couch. Take time to play with your furry pal!
Our feline friends are master nappers. Fluffy can spend as much as 20 hours a day snoozing. Your furball will constantly be on the prowl for comfy new spots. Provide several different beds. Kitties also like sleeping on folded-up blankets placed on ottomans or in boxes.
Kitties are very clean by nature, and they prefer their bathrooms kept that way as well. Keep your feline buddy’s powder room clean.
Even the sleepiest kitty needs something to do when she’s awake. And, while playing is fun, Fluffy won’t spend the entire two hours that she’s awake batting at things. Offer her a window seat to look out of. You can also leave a radio or TV on for her. Cats also like exploring boxes, paper bags, and newspaper tunnels, and sniffing at safe plants.
We know, most of our feline patients are definitely not purrticularly happy about coming in. However, Fluffy will definitely be happier if she’s free of fleas and ticks, and if she’s being treated for any medical conditions she has.
Proper nutrition will keep your furry buddy both happy and healthy. Ask your vet for specific advice.
Fluffy is very small and vulnerable, and she is always happiest if she feels loved and safe. Pay lots of attention to your furry friend!
