There’s a pretty cute holiday coming up, and one that your canine buddy is bound to approve of. Doggy Date Night is February 3rd! This is a good reminder to set aside time for Fido, especially if you’ve been fitting his care in around other things. A Tipp City, OH vet offers some ideas on how to celebrate below.
Park
Weather permitting, this may be a good time to take Fido to a park, and just let him sniff new things and enjoy a change of scenery. The stimulation and enrichment is great for your furry buddy!
Indoor Games
February isn’t always a great time for outdoor sports. Don’t worry: there are plenty of things you can do inside as well. Hide and Seek is a fun game you can play inside. Fido may have fun on a doggy scavenger hunt. Hide some toys and small treats for him to sniff out. You can also play Fetch inside, as long as you have a spot without a lot of breakables.
Dinner
Dinner is a standard part of most dates. Make something special for your canine pal! Fido can have most types of meat, fish, and poultry. Just remove the skin, bones, and fat first.
Double Date
Who says Doggy Date Night doesn’t include playdates? Have a friend or family member with a friendly pooch come over. It’s really good for Fido to play and interact with his four-legged friends! Provide toys and treats for the pups.
Grooming
You want your furry best friend to look his best for the big date! Schedule an appointment at the doggy salon, or give Fido a bath and/or good brushing at home. Don’t forget about your pet’s teeth and nails!
Movie Night
Dinner and a movie is the standard date combination. Man’s Best Friend has starred in several great films! If you’re feeling like a classic, try Bolt, Beethoven, Air Bud, or Homeward Bound. If you’re in the mood for a tearjerker, you can try Old Yeller, Hachi, The Fox And The Hound, or Where The Red Fern Grows. Just have some tissues on hand for these!
Photo Sessions
You can never have too many cute pictures of your four-legged friend. Snap some cute shots of Fido!
